About

Who publishes TaxCalculator NP, where the rates come from, and how errors are corrected.

TaxCalculator NP is an independent Nepali website that publishes free tax calculators and plain-language explanations for people who need a number they can act on — an employee checking a payslip, a shop owner writing an invoice, a rider due for bluebook renewal.

Why this site exists

Tax Calculator Nepal is scattered across finance acts, circulars, and IRD regulations to give accurate data. Instead of a lot of explanation, many of us need actual data and reports to find out actual calculations. Also, they need one honest answer: how much tax comes out of my salary, how much VAT belongs on this bill, what will renewal cost this year. We built the tools we wanted to use ourselves, and then wrote the explanation each one deserves.

What we publish

How we work out the numbers

Every rate the calculators use comes from published sources: Nepal’s Finance Act, the Income Tax Act, Inland Revenue Department notices, and — for vehicle tax — provincial schedules. We do not invent rates or average them.

Three principles shape how the tools behave:

  • Show the working: Each calculator shows the deductions applied and the tax charged in each slab, so you can follow the logic or challenge it.
  • Apply the caps for you: If you enter more than the deductible limit for insurance or retirement contributions, the calculator applies the limit rather than quietly accepting an over-claim.
  • Keep old years available. Slabs change annually, and people genuinely need last year’s rules. Earlier fiscal years stay selectable.

When rates change, we update the calculator’s settings and the tables in our guides. The tax slabs page reads directly from those settings, so what you see published is always what the calculator is using — there is no second, stale copy of the numbers.

Accuracy, limits, and corrections

All the calculations and results shown on this site are estimates only. They cannot see the taxable value your employer assigned to a company vehicle, arrears on a bluebook, or a relief specific to your situation. We say so plainly on every page instead of implying certainty we do not have, and we do not file returns or represent anyone before the tax authority.

If a figure looks wrong, please tell us. Point to the page and, ideally, the notice or act you are comparing against. We check reports, correct genuine errors, and update the page. That feedback loop is the reason the tools have stayed usable.

Privacy and independence

Calculations run entirely in your browser. The salary figures you type are never transmitted to us or stored on a server — see our privacy policy for what we do and do not collect.

The site is free to use and supported by advertising. Ads never influence what our calculators output or what our guides recommend. We are not affiliated with the Inland Revenue Department, any province, bank, insurer, or employer.
